Q: When I dial the recorder, I get a message saying my number is unrecognized? Why?

Please check the format of the tel# you entered. It has to be a 10 digit tel# for USA/Canada. All other countries need zero followed by country code followed by tel# (without any spaces, +, ( or ) ). Also, please press the save button (in the bottom middle of the setings screen)

Q: What are the fees for using handsfree.ly call recording?

After you purchase the app in the Google Play Store, there are no other addiional fees. For recording or for storage.

Q: I cannot find a Merge button after I dial the recorder. Why?

Some carriers (like Orange in UK) do not provide 3-way calling. This app will work only if you have 3-way calling. The app dials out to the recorder via the country-specific access#. Then you merge this with an ongoing call. Or dial a new call and merge the 2 calls. If the merge is not done, you will get a blank recording.

Q: Does handsfree.ly store my call and audio recordings?

Yes-all audio and call recordings are stored securely on handsfree.ly servers. Links to these recordings are emailed to the user's registered email address. These links can be posted on blogs or stored in itunes. Your recordings are available for a period of 3 months from the recording date. At the end of the 3 month period, it will be replaced by a message stating that the recording is unavailable.

Q: How can I access my recordings?

All call recordings are stored on the originating device in a folder called "handsfree.ly Recorded Calls". All audio recordings are stored in user created folders with user supplied recording names. When you choose a recording, there is a ">" sign to the right of the recording. Clicking this takes you to the email view where you can enter additional email address. Clicking Done send a link to this recording to all the email addresses you choose.

Q: How can I save my recordings on my computer?

Look at the email we send you with the link to your recording. You can right-click on the link and in most browsers (esp. IE and Mozilla), you can choose the "Save link as..." option. On MACs, this guide will help. Save the file with a .mp3 name. You can now access the recording on your computer. Please remember that handsfree.ly Terms Of Service guarantee the online recordings will be available for a maximum of 3 months only from the date of recording.
